Veteran England national cricket team keeper-batsman Jos Buttler has shared a picture of the India national cricket team jersey, signed by Rohit Sharma, who concluded the England tour for the three-match ODI series with a brilliant century.

India vs England ahead of 3third And in the final match of the recently concluded tour, speculations about Rohit’s international career ran high, following two disappointing performances for the Indian cricket team in the first and second ODI of the series against England.
Rohit Sharma ended his retirement speculations not with words but with his blade, registering a well-controlled century while chasing a mammoth target of 388 at the prestigious Lord’s. The 39-year-old opening batsman was out after scoring 138 runs facing 110 balls. His innings was decorated with 17 fours and five sixes.
India lost the match, but Rohit’s century was his first in his international career at the venue known as the ‘Home of Cricket’. The innings of 138 not only sealed Rohit’s departure from the Indian cricket team but also made the former India captain a contender for the ODI World Cup in 2027.
Like many cricket fans, Jos Buttler proved that he is also one of those who admires Rohit a lot. Despite a slow, disappointing start in the three-match ODI series in England, Rohit scored 175 runs in the three matches at an average of 58.33 and a strike rate of 98.31, including an efficient century at Lord’s.
India ultimately lost the match at Lord’s, as well as the series 2–1. Rohit’s 138 and fifty-plus innings from captain Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli took the team closer to a successful run chase, but the team missed by 27 runs.
India will face West Indies in the next ODI series
It is too early to say whether Rohit will play in the 2027 ODI World Cup or not, but it is certain that the century at Lord’s will force the national cricket team selectors to think twice before dropping the experienced player from the team, especially from a series like the World Cup.
Team India’s next ODI match will be in September this year, when they will face West Indies in a white-ball home series including a 3-match ODI contest as part of their preparations for the upcoming 50-over World Cup.
