Afghanistan national cricket team head coach Jonathan Trott has put to rest all rumors of internal differences ahead of the T20 series against Zimbabwe, confirming that communication issues with the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) have been fully resolved.

Earlier, Jonathan Trott had expressed concerns about miscommunication over team selection and team management discussions, but now the Afghanistan head coach has made a dramatic U-turn and insisted that everything is now back on track.

Jonathan Trott told reporters before the first T20 match: “There were good discussions between the ACB, myself and all the stakeholders and the top management and we have agreed how to move forward. I think that has been sorted out, and any miscommunication or misunderstanding has been sorted out.”

He added, “Communication is now in place, and we are all working together, building a strong Zimbabwe team and looking ahead to the T20 World Cup in the subcontinent. I think sometimes these discussions are healthy, because you realize where things could be better on both sides. The communication over the last few days has been fantastic – I’ve really enjoyed it, and I’m looking forward to the next few months.”

Afghanistan coach has urged his players to remain focused and united as they prepare for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka. Trott, who has now extended his contract till the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, expressed excitement about the future of the team.

Jonathan Trott said, “I’m obviously excited about the future and the next few months. We were disappointed with the way the Asia Cup went, but we need to bounce back – the guys have been training well.”
