Joe Root hits a stunning century

The 34-year-old Root once again showed why he is the best test batsman in the world by playing a match winning knock at the end of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 series.

Joe Root did not start a series on a great note, but as it moved forward, it continued to improve and ended with a remarkable century.

England was given a big target of 374 runs to chase in the final innings of the fifth test, and Root took responsibility for being a senior batsman and played an extraordinary knock.

He formed an important partnership with Harry Brook, which completely dropped India from the game, and even after losing his team partner, he batted brilliantly.

He eventually completed his century by giving Akash double to Akash on the first ball of the 69th over. After reaching the landmark, Root took off his helmet and raised his bat towards the dressing room.

Then, he took out a headband, wore it to pay a good tribute to Graham Thorpe, with a finger gesture towards the sky in tribute. This was the 39th ton for the route in Test cricket.

“This is probably only in the last 20 years, because since the publication of Marcus Traksothic’s book, people have felt able to talk about it. I think after the end of Graham’s game’s career and we sat with them, I started feeling that the weaknesses but I don’t think that none of us realized how important they were.”
