Indian women’s cricketer Pratika Raval has revealed that she will get the World Cup winner’s medal after the intervention of current ICC Chairman Jay Shah. Raval was a key part of India’s World Cup campaign but was dropped from the team just before the knockouts.

The Indian team won the World Cup title for the first time in the history of the game and was widely loved by fans and spectators around the world. Pratika Raval was a campaigner who played a major role for India in their World Cup campaign.

India overcame 7-time champions Australia in the World Cup semi-finals and then defeated South African Women, who also qualified for their first World Cup final, to secure the World Cup title.

“Jay Shah told us that he is asking the ICC if they can send the medals,” Prateek Rawal said.

India defeated South Africa last Sunday to lift their maiden ICC Women’s World Cup title. Indian opening batsman Pratika Raval was the second-highest run-scorer for India women in the World Cup, but was ruled out of the World Cup with an ankle injury before the knockouts.

India played their last league match against Bangladesh and recently, in an exclusive chat with CNN News18, Raval revealed that ICC President Jay Shah had assured him of handing over the World Cup winners’ medal.

“Jay Shah told us that he is asking the ICC if they can send the medal. So it will take some time for that medal to reach me. So, one of the support staff gave me his medal to wear right now. Consider that I have my own. So, the medal is on the way,” she said.

Jay Shah hands over her World Cup medal to Pratika Rawal

Before the semi-final match against Australia, star cricketer Shafali Verma was included in the Indian women’s team in place of Indian player Pratika Rawal. Shafali Verma played a very important role for India, especially in the final. He top-scored with the bat and also took two important wickets for India.

At the post-match ceremony, Shafali Verma along with other players of the women’s team were handed the winner’s medal. However, Raval was not given a medal, as he was eliminated during the final stage.

Rawal said, “Jay Shah messaged our manager that he wants to make arrangements for Pratika to get the medal.” “So, finally, now I have my medal. The first time I opened it (the medal given to her by the support staff) and, I looked at it, I almost started crying. I’m not a person who cries a lot but that feeling was real, that feeling of us connecting with each other.”

Pratika Rawal reached PM residence with the Indian team

After the success of ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, the Indian team reached the Prime Minister’s residence. The team led by Harmanpreet Kaur met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence and Pratika Rawal was part of it.

After playing 7 games in the competition, Pratika Raval opened for India along with the experienced Smriti Mandhana, who top-scored for India in the tournament. Raval scored 308 runs at an average of 51.33.
