Pakistani cricketer Sahibzada Farhan was praised by Pakistani fans and called him ‘Bumrah’s Abbu’. The Pakistan opener hit a six off Bumrah during the Asia Cup match, which was his biggest achievement in his T20 career.
Pakistan hosted South Africa for the third T20 match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday evening. Pakistan defeated South Africa in the three-match series as they came back from behind to take the series 2–1.
Pakistan captain Salman Aga expressed satisfaction on his return to the T20 series, saying, “I am happy with the win after being behind in the series. We were 1-0 down, so it was a great effort from the players to win the next two matches.”
“Jasprit Bumrah’s Abbu”: Pakistan fans troll Bumrah for praising Sahibzada Farhan
During the final game of the Pakistan vs South Africa series at the Gaddafi Stadium, a section of home fans targeted Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and insulted him with derogatory comments.
Cricketer Sahibzada Farhan was fielding near the boundary line, and at the same time, Pakistan fans present in the stands tried to cheer the player by calling out the name of the Indian fast bowler. He cheered loudly and said, “Jasprit Bumrah’s father.”
Pakistani cricketers shamelessly showed a lack of sportsmanship as they validated the aggressive chants by smiling and clapping in front of the spectators. Sahibzada Farhan became the first batsman in the history of T20 game to hit three sixes off Jasprit Bumrah in a match.
Sahibzada Farhan turned out to be the best Pakistani batsman in Asia Cup
Despite the lack of form from Pakistan’s batsmen throughout the Asia Cup 2025, Sahibzada Farhan top-scored for Pakistan in the Asia Cup. Opening batsman Farhan has been India’s top scorer every time it faced Pakistan and also scored two half-centuries.
However, Farhan was not their best player in the ongoing series against South Africa. Despite some good starts early on, he missed runs on all occasions. In this match also, Sahibzada Farhan was out after scoring only 19 runs in 18 balls.
On Saturday, a clip started going viral on social media, in which fans can be heard shouting “Bumrah ke abbu (Bumrah’s father)” while Farhan was clapping.
Jasprit Bumrah nears 100 T20I wickets against Australia in Hobart
Veteran fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah of the Indian contingent performed as the only fast bowler for India. All-rounders Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dubey supported him during the Asia Cup.
Bumrah took wickets at regular intervals but bowled mostly economical spells during the powerplay. He took 2 more wickets against Australia in the second T20 match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Jasprit Bumrah currently has 98 wickets to his name for India and is just 2 wickets away from entering the 100 wicket club in T20I cricket, becoming the second Indian player to do so.
