India National Cricket Team captain Shubman Gill made a remarkable debut as a Test captain, with a five-match Test series 2–2 with an exciting six-run win over England on Monday, 4 August. Shubman Gill said that both India and England played great cricket and brought their best game.

The young captain was told that India had ended the tour of England in the winning side. Gill made it clear that bowlers like Mohammad Siraj and Prasad Krishna made their work easy as a captain, saying that the pace pair spoke the ball in difficult English conditions.

The Indian captain believed in his bowlers, and he gave it as Siraj and Krishna took all four wickets to refuse England 3–1 at home. While Siraj finished the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy as a leading wicket-taker with 23 wickets, Krishna took 14 wickets in just three tests.

Shubman Gill said in the post-match presentation, as quoted by Cricbuz, “Surely both teams played brilliantly in the entire series. Both teams came with their A-Game, happy to go to the right today. When you have bowlers like Siraj and Prasad, they feel that they were actually talking about the ball.”

The Punjab child also revealed that he had set a target to end as the best batsman of the series, and he achieved it. He said that there were some things that he wanted to improve as a batsman, and this series helped him do so. Gill added, “It seems very beneficial. There were some things that I wanted to work as a batsman, and it was a goal to finish this series as the best batsman. I am happy to achieve that goal. It is always a combination of technology and mindset; when you are feeling mentally good, the technique flows naturally when you are mentally good.”

Finally, the young Indian captain said that he learned one thing from Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy: that this team never gives up. Even tourists continued to fight till the end, no matter how difficult the situation is. Gill signed, saying, “We never give up.”
