The ball seemed to have come back from a good length and passed between Bosch’s bat and pad. Notably, the wicket came at a crucial time, when South Africa were putting up resistance.

Bosch, who had struggled hard to score 25 off 37 balls, misjudged the movement and it cost him as Bumrah took his first wicket of the innings and sixth of the match. South Africa lost their eighth wicket with a lead of 105, giving India the early momentum on the third morning.

Jasprit Bumrah claimed five wickets on the first day of Kolkata Test.

Jasprit Bumrah took five wickets on the first day of the Kolkata Test. He bowled a brilliant spell of 5/27, as India bowled out South Africa for just 159 runs. The visiting team made a strong start after batting and reached 57 runs without any loss.

Jasprit Bumrah changed the pace by dismissing Ryan Rickelton and Aiden Markram in quick succession. The double blow halted South Africa’s early momentum and they struggled to recover thereafter.

The Indian fast bowler continued his dominance and took five wickets by dismissing Tony De Zorzi, Simon Harmer and Keshav Maharaj LBW. With support from the rest of the attack, Bumrah ensured that South Africa’s innings could never achieve stability.

Don’t think that 120 is going to be a big issue – Sanjay Bangar

Former batting coach Sanjay Bangar Sanjay Bangar believes that India will be comfortable chasing a target close to 120 runs in the Kolkata Test given their batting depth.

Speaking on ESPNcricinfo, Bangar said that South Africa will need to reach 150 to really trouble the hosts. Bangar said anything below 120 should give India confidence of achieving the target, while a target of 150 could make things more competitive.

“Even if they [South Africa] Reach 120, and for that the rest of the batsmen will have to put in a massive effort, given the depth in the Indian team’s batting line-up. Don’t think that 120 is going to be a big issue for the Indian team. If it goes above 150 then it will be a challenging score. They’ll feel very confident chasing anything under 120.”
