India’s squad for the upcoming ODI series against England is expected to be announced soon, and there is good news for many senior players. According to the latest update, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel have been declared fit and available for selection after getting approval from the BCCI Center of Excellence (COE).

The fitness update comes at a crucial time for India as the selectors prepare to pick the squad for the three-match ODI series in England. While Jasprit Bumrah and Pant have not featured in the ongoing ODI series in Afghanistan, both players are now in line for a comeback. At the same time, the selectors are still waiting for the final clarity on the fitness of Virat Kohli, while Hardik Pandya is going to miss the tour due to injury.

Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel fit for England ODI

According to journalist Abhishek Tripathi, the CoE has submitted its fitness report to the selectors, confirming that Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel are all fit for selection for the England ODI series.

This update is especially important for Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested for the entire Afghanistan assignment as part of the workload management plan. Following the conclusion of IPL 2026, the BCCI decided not to rush the premier fast bowler back into action, instead opting to prioritize his long-term fitness ahead of major international assignments.

Given Jasprit Bumrah’s past back injury concerns and the physical demands of his bowling action, the management has been extremely cautious about his workload over the past few seasons. His return will provide a huge boost to India’s pace attack ahead of the challenging tour of England.

There is encouraging news for Rishabh Pant also. The wicketkeeper-batsman was dropped from India’s ODI squad ahead of the Afghanistan series in May after a prolonged period of poor performance with the bat. Pant also lost his position as India’s Test vice-captain as the selectors opted to move in a different direction.

KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan have emerged as India’s preferred wicketkeeping options in the 50-over format. However, Pant’s fitness clearance now brings him back in the running for a return to the ODI team after missing the recent home series.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul’s availability was never in serious doubt, but the latest report officially confirms that he is fit and available. Dhruv Jurel has also got the nod and remains firmly in the selectors’ plans across all formats.

Virat Kohli’s injury update: Batsman to undergo fitness test at COE

While the fitness reports of many senior players have come positive, the situation of Virat Kohli is still unresolved.

As per the latest update, Kohli will undergo another fitness assessment at the Center of Excellence on June 22. Only after the completion of those tests will the selectors take a final decision regarding his inclusion in the England ODI team.

The former India captain has been ruled out of IPL 2026 due to a hamstring injury. Reports suggest that Kohli suffered a torn distal semimembranosus tendon near his knee while representing Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL final against Gujarat Titans.

The COE has been in constant touch with Kohli during his rehabilitation programme. Recent reports suggest that the veteran batsman is recovering rapidly, but the BCCI medical team wants complete assurance before clearing him for international cricket.

Since Kohli has already retired from T20Is and Tests, ODI cricket remains his only international commitment, making his recovery one of India’s biggest priorities.

Hardik Pandya is out of England ODI series

This news is not so positive for Hardik Pandya. According to latest reports, the star all-rounder may be out of the England ODI series due to injury. Pandya recently recovered from the back spasms that troubled him during IPL 2026 and has also received medical clearance from the COE.

However, just before joining the national setup, Pandya reportedly suffered a fresh setback during a high-intensity training session. The injury was identified as a low grade quadriceps strain.

The medical team has advised approximately three weeks of rehabilitation and recovery, effectively ruling him out of the England ODI series.
