Before the first T20 match between Team India and South Africa, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is close to a big achievement. The fast bowler needs just one more wicket to join a very elite list, becoming the second Indian bowler after Arshdeep Singh to reach 100 wickets in T20 Internationals.

To manage his workload, Bumrah was rested for the three-match ODI series against South Africa. The 32-year-old fast bowler performed brilliantly during the two-match Test series, taking eight wickets including a five-for. His absence from the ODI team was not felt as the Men in Blue secured the series by a margin of 2–1.

Jasprit Bumrah is one wicket away from joining the 100-wicket club along with Arshdeep Singh.

Jasprit Bumrah has taken 99 wickets in 80 T20 matches. He needs only one more strike to join Arshdeep Singh as the second Indian to enter the 100-wicket club in this format.

If Bumrah reaches this milestone, he will become the first Indian bowler to take 100 wickets in all three formats (Test, ODI and T20I), which is a rare feat.

Arshdeep is the leading wicket-taker for India in T20Is with 105 wickets, while Bumrah now has a chance to further cement his legacy in the shortest format. Meanwhile, Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan tops the global list with 182 wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah is set to become the first Indian to take 100 wickets in all formats

Jasprit Bumrah can become the first Indian bowler to take 100 wickets in Test, ODI and T20. Only four players in the world have been able to do this so far.

Bumrah made his debut in 2016 and has taken 234 wickets in Tests, 149 in ODIs and 99 in T20Is (482 international wickets). His consistency, adaptability and impact across all formats has made him one of the most dangerous fast bowlers of his generation.

Before this, only Tim Southee, Shakib Al Hasan, Shaheen Afridi and Lasith Malinga have been able to complete centuries in three formats. Bumrah is now certain to become the fifth.

Another player close to this milestone is West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, who has 97 T20I wickets. The West Indies cricketer has taken 162 wickets in 69 Tests and 159 wickets in 138 ODIs.

Four bowlers who have taken 100 or more wickets in each format:

player Team test wicket ODI wicket T20I wicket
Lasith Malinga Sri Lanka 101 (30 tests) 338 (226 ODIs) 107 (84 T20Is)
Tim Southee new zealand 391 (107 Tests) 221 (161 ODI) 164 (124 T20Is)

Shaheen Shah Afridi Pakistan 121 (33 Tests) 132 (71 ODI) 122 (96 T20Is)
