West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder has dropped an honest opinion on the India-Pakistan conflict, and the way players have brought political issues onto the cricket field has left the Caribbean all-rounder in hot water.
The game of cricket has been largely affected by political conflicts between the countries, and India–Pakistan disputes have continually troubled both cricket boards. The PCB and BCCI have also been involved in various feuds in recent times, and some are still unresolved.
While cricketers from both these countries have supported such actions, fellow cricketers from other countries see the issue gaining momentum. Jason Holder has also expressed a similar opinion on the Asia Cup trophy controversy involving the Indian team and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
India-Pakistan dispute came to the fore during Asia Cup 2025
India and Pakistan have been long-time rivals in the game of cricket. The two countries, which split with the independence of British India in 1947, have been at enmity over a number of issues since then and have fought wars to settle geopolitical conflicts.
However, following the 2025 attack on Pahalgam Valley in the Indian territory of Kashmir, the Indian government refused to have any friendly relations with the Pakistan Cricket Board. He also decided not to play any match against Pakistan, but the demands of the broadcasters affected him to a great extent.
The Asia Cup saw several altercations between the two sides as they refused each other’s requests to shake hands and players attacked each other on and off the field. However, it went beyond limits when India refused to accept the winning trophy from ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the PCB chief and holds a position in Pakistan’s interior ministry.

Players who come from outside to be a part of ACC or ICC tournaments or even franchise leagues in these two countries have also been affected by the rising tensions between these countries. Last time during IPL, Indian territory was suddenly attacked by Pakistani Army.
West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, who has played franchise cricket in both India and Pakistan along with the IPL and PSL, has said that such things are going on at a very serious level. Holder raised the issue of the Asia Cup trophy controversy during his appearance on the Game On with Grace podcast.
Jason Holder said, “I don’t like the India-Pakistan beef. I saw India win the Asia Cup and they didn’t go to collect the trophy. This is too much man.” This comment of Jason Holder comes amid increasing tension between BCCI and BCB.

Jason Holder to switch from PSL to IPL in 2026
Senior West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder has played for many franchises in IPL as well as PSL. After playing for teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, he went on to play in the PSL.
After success with PSL franchises, Holder again made it to the IPL auction, where he was bought by Gujarat Titans for a whopping price of Rs 7 crore. The Titans were waiting for an all-rounder for a long time and finally, he joined the team in 2026.
