Jasprit Bumrah once again proved why he is one of the most dangerous fast bowlers in world cricket. On March 5 in Mumbai, Jasprit Bumrah produced a stunning spell that changed the entire match as India defeated England by seven runs in the semi-finals to qualify for the final of the T20 World Cup 2026.
When the pressure was at its peak, the India national cricket team fast bowler bowled accurate yorkers time and again, making life extremely difficult for the English batsmen and ultimately played a vital role in the defending champions’ thrilling victory over England.

The former fast bowler has said that Bumrah’s skill is so rare that it cannot be easily copied or learned. “The thing about Bumrah is that I look at him and think, I don’t think you can learn anything from him. He’s an absolute freak,” James Anderson said on a BBC podcast.
The great Test bowler further added, “There is not a single bowler in the world, in any format, man or woman, who can bowl six out of six yorkers and be completely successful every time. Even he bowled one yorker.” [vs. England] There was a slow ball in his last over. So, he bowled five fast yorkers and one slow yorker—you can’t hit him anywhere.”
Jasprit Bumrah’s deadly spell broke England’s hearts
Chasing the huge target of 254 runs, England had hope till the last over thanks to the aggressive batting of Jacob Bethel. The young batsman kept England in the fight by hitting fearlessly, but the biggest hurdle remained Jasprit Bumrah.
Their tight overs resulted in slow scoring, leaving England 7 runs short of the target. Jacen played a brilliant inning of 105 runs in 48 balls under immense pressure against India in the semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium.
Bumrah is the best T20 bowler in the world: Anderson
Anderson said, “England did really well by getting six [runs] Out of the hole, like they squeezed the ball. He played it really well because he thought, ‘We know we can’t get boundaries from him, or it will be really difficult to get boundaries from him. ‘So, we’ll take our chances against the other two players at the other end.’
He concluded by saying, “And you saw in the end, Dubey bowled the last over and scored 22 runs and Jofra Archer got him out. I know the game was over then, but he was trying to bowl a yorker and missed by a good margin. It’s just a ridiculous skill. There is definitely no one better than him in T20 cricket.”
Bumrah will be India’s biggest weapon when India takes on New Zealand in the final of the T20 World Cup 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8. He has taken 10 wickets in 7 matches so far in the tournament at an exceptional economy rate of 6.63.
