Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi demanded the cancellation of the much awaited India vs Pakistan match in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 during the Rajya Sabha session. His demand came in view of the cruel Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 Indians died and Operation Sindoor was released.
The Shiv Sena MP strongly questioned how Team India can play a cricket match against a country that gives shelter to terrorists who killed many innocents over the years. He also mentioned the statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Operation Sindoor is still going on.

Chaturvedi stressed that if the entertainment industry, news channel, or affected people have been banned in India in relation to national spirit, then why not cricket? He demanded a complete ban on India vs Pakistan matches in any cricket tournament.

Priyanka Chaturvedi said during the Rajya Sabha session: “PM Modi said yesterday that Operation vermilion is still going on. I thank him for reminding the country that what our army has done is not yet over – we will end his (Pakistan) bad works. Operation vermilion is running, whether it is film industry, or affected, we are taking time.”
He also urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene and direct ICC President J Shah to take strong action. In particular, ICC President J Shah is the son of Amit Shah.

The Shiv Sena MP said, “Our external affairs minister said that there was a conversation with about 100 countries. I am saying to the Home Minister – there is no need to make many calls; Just pick up the Intercom and tell the ICC President that an India vs Pakistan cannot be a match. If this doesn’t, the operation of Operation Sindoor will be the real success.”
Meanwhile, Chaturvedi questioned how the country could justify playing cricket with Pakistan after a terrorist attack in Pahgam earlier this year. She indicated the pain of 26 widows, who lost her husband, saying how India can invest money above national pride.

He signed, saying, “How can we face 26 widow women and tell them that we want to play a match with Pakistan to earn money? Your family is not above money. An operation vermilion should be in that regard.”

Heavy resentment over India vs Pakistan match
Recently, the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 program was unveiled, and expressed great displeasure across the country. India and Pakistan will face each other on 14 September. They are likely to play each other three times in the upcoming T20 tournament.
And many former cricketers and political leaders have slammed the verdict, which urged India to completely cut the cricket relations with Pakistan. Even the World Championship of Legends 2025 (WCL 2025) canceled the group and the much -awaited semi -finals between India Champions and Pakistan Champions. It is being said that many Indian players refused to take the ground against Pakistan after public resentment on social media in view of the Pahgam terror attack.
