Veteran fast bowler Ishant Sharma made a big statement on the boycott of Shreyas Iyer from the India squad for the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Pesar said that while fans have their favorite, the selectors face impossible tasks to fit everyone in the 15-member squad.
Ishant took 311 wickets out of 105 tests at an average of 32.40. He is the second largest wicket taking among Indian pacers in Test cricket. Pesar also took 115 wickets in 80 Odis. He was last seen in action during IPL 2025 for Gujarat Titans (GT), where he took four wickets in seven matches.

According to a report by The Indian Express, Shreyas Iyer requested BCCI and chief selector Ajit Agkar for a break from Red-Ball Cricket, including tests and first-class matches. The 30 -year -old batsman took the decision after withdrawing from the series against Australia A in Lucknow.
