Veteran fast bowler Ishant Sharma made a big statement on the boycott of Shreyas Iyer from the India squad for the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Pesar said that while fans have their favorite, the selectors face impossible tasks to fit everyone in the 15-member squad.
Ishant took 311 wickets out of 105 tests at an average of 32.40. He is the second largest wicket taking among Indian pacers in Test cricket. Pesar also took 115 wickets in 80 Odis. He was last seen in action during IPL 2025 for Gujarat Titans (GT), where he took four wickets in seven matches.
It is not saying that Shreyas Iyer is not a class player – Ishant Sharma
Speaking to Raj Shamani’s YouTube channel, Ishant Sharma said that Shreyas Iyer is a class player, but it is difficult to decide who they should change. Ishant jokingly said that the ICC should allow squads to expand 20 players so as not to remember the qualified names.
“Either you tell the ICC that we have a lot of players, so we increase the size of the squad from 15 to 20. It is very difficult. Yes, as a person, you are a fan, but a selector is the most thanks to the most thanks. The player who is picked up, he feels good, but like Sheras Ier, like Sheras Ier, who should not tell the Shers?
The true words that are not selected by Ishant Sharma are seen as good and those who pick up are considered bad.
Shreyas Iyer’s fans were angry at his nonsense in the Asia Cup, but even once he did not point to the right player. They were right after Gill. pic.twitter.com/0EDEZADUXC– Lapulga (@lapulga_11) September 23, 2025
