In the absence of Pat Cummins, Ishan Kishan will lead Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) season. During the event, where the key players of the teams were on the stage, the temporary captain made some hilarious comments which resulted in a wave of smiles among the players and the fans attending the event.
Like last season. SRH will play with a star-studded batting line-up in IPL 2026. Ishan Kishan, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen are among the key batsmen who will be responsible for scoring most of the runs on the scoreboard.

During the event, the SRH stand-in captain joked that he and Abhishek Sharma would happily settle for 70-70 runs. But he would like to see most of the runs scored by the two overseas batting stars, Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen.
Ishan Kishan said in a friendly tone, “The day we score 300 runs, the most important batsmen are Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen. Abhishek and I will be happily satisfied after scoring 70 runs.” And the crowd thoroughly enjoyed the moment.

SRH field a batting powerhouse for IPL 2026 campaign
SRH has a packed batting department with many power hitters. Apart from these 4 batsmen, the team includes Smaran Ravichandran, Kamindu Mendis, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Liam Livingstone, Jack Edwards and many other domestic talents who have proved their batting skills in the past.
Despite an underwhelming campaign, the franchise protected most of its key talents for the 2026 season. In the IPL 2025 points table, SRH finished sixth in the 10-team league. With three consecutive wins in the final round of the group stage, they achieved 6 wins from 14 matches.
Cricket experts like Aakash Chopra are more worried about their bowling front than their batting firepower, as they will have to play the first few matches without the services of their key fast bowler Pat Cummins. Another foreign fast bowler, Sri Lanka’s Ishan Malinga has also not confirmed his participation in the league yet.
“This year, Sunrisers Hyderabad probably won’t do much in the IPL again. I don’t think they will qualify for the top four. Sunrisers Hyderabad have a very strong batting lineup, but their bowling lineup is not that strong,” Aakash Chopra strongly predicted in his YouTube video.
SRH will have to face RCB in the opening match of the tournament.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will begin their IPL 2026 campaign on March 28 for the opening match of the edition. In the much-awaited encounter, SRH will face defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Looking to make a positive start to the season, both the teams will try their best to capture the match to keep their morale high.
Expectations will be high from Ishan Kishan as he guided the Jharkhand cricket team to claim their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy by defeating New Zealand in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad before winning the 2026 T20 World Cup with Team India.
