The International Cricket Council (ICC)’s men’s T20I rankings for batsmen, bowlers and all-rounders have been reshuffled after England handed India a big defeat in the third match of the ongoing bilateral T20I series at Trent Bridge.

Thanks to their emphatic 125-run win over the reigning T20 World Cup winners, several England cricketers have gained in their individual rankings. It is noteworthy that the 125-run defeat is the biggest defeat for the Men in Blue so far in this format. Josh Tongue, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Jacob Bethel and Adil Rashid played an important role in taking the visitors to the destination.

Adil Rashid and Josh Tongue performed impressively with their bowling.

According to the latest ICC rankings for bowlers in the men’s T20I format, Josh Tongue, who took 4 wickets in the second match, is ranked 301st, while his teammate Adil Rashid, whose bowling figures were 2/14 in the last match, helped him enter the top three places in the T20I bowling rankings, gaining one place.

Will Jacks, who is a batting all-rounder but made the biggest impact with the ball against India, is among the gainers in the rankings. The rising English all-rounder has gained six places in the T20I all-rounder rankings and moved into the top 10 at number seven.

Jacob Bethel and Sam Curran also among the gainers in ICC men’s T20I rankings

There are two other Englishmen who have moved up a few steps in the rankings, Jacob Bethell and Sam Curran. Both Bethel and Curran were equally impressive with bat and ball, making their mark in the second and third matches of the series after a rain-washed opening game of the competition.

In the second game, Bethel performed strongly against the Indian bowlers and scored 76* off 46, winning by four wickets. With the win at Trent Bridge, the hosts overcame a 2-0 deficit in two more matches to be played in the series, and Jacob Bethel has gained seven places in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings and moved into the top ten at No. 8, as per the ICC official website on July 8.

On the basis of his effective bowling and batting in the third match of the series, Sam Curran has made great progress in all three rankings. According to the official ICC release, “Sam Curran, who took 3/33 in the second game and scored 41* in England’s emphatic win in the third, has moved up 12 places to 108th in the batting rankings, and gained the same number of places to 71st in the bowling rankings. His efforts have seen him move up six places to the same 13th in the all-rounder rankings.”

Ishan Kishan remains at number 1

Despite poor batting performances for most of the ongoing UK tour, Ishan Kishan remains at No. 1 in the T20I men’s batsmen’s rankings with Abhishek Sharma at second due to his past achievements.

The team’s newly appointed T20I captain Shreyas Iyer, who has not been very impressive with his batting either, is among the gainers in the rankings. His innings of 68 runs in the first game and 37 runs in the second game helped him gain 425 places and now he is at 93rd position in the batting rankings.
