Current No. 1 T20I batsman, Ishan Kishan has shared valuable information on how the coaching staff and senior cricketers of the India national cricket team handle 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Kishan answered questions at the post-match press conference after India’s emphatic win over Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club, Harare on Saturday.
Speaking in the post-match press-conference, Ishan Kishan described Vaibhav Suryavanshi as his younger brother and the entire team tries to protect him from the mistakes that all cricketers make at their young age in international cricket, so that he does not repeat them.
Ishan Kishan reveals how he handles Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Speaking to the media, Ishan Kishan told that players like Axar Patel, him and Abhishek Sharma always try their best to help the boy as much as possible so that he can improve his game in the future.
Kishan said, “Yes, we have tried to guide Vaibhav as much as possible in an elder, brotherly manner so that he does not make the mistakes that all of us have made in our formative years in international cricket. And it is not just me but the entire group like Axar Patel, Abhishek and many others who are trying their best to help Suryavanshi as much as possible.”
India are on a three-match T20 series in Zimbabwe and on Saturday they won the second match as well and clinched the series by winning the match by 90 runs over the weekend. This was Shreyas Iyer’s first series win as captain of Team India after losing two consecutive series. They completely dominated the home team in both the matches in Harare.
Ishan Kishan shines for India
Ishan Kishan was the hero of the match as the No. 1 T20I batsman batted first for the Men in Blue, scoring a brilliant inning of 81 runs off 44 balls and sharing a 64-run partnership first with Shreyas Iyer and then a 94-run partnership with Tilak Verma as the latter scored 60 off 29 balls, helping India score 219/5.
Set to chase, Brian Bennett was the only star batsman for Zimbabwe as he scored 32, and other batsmen fell like nine apiece as Chevron were bowled out for 129. Debutants Yash Thakur and Prince Yadav took two wickets each for the team, with Abhishek Sharma taking three wickets as it was a complete all-round performance by the Men in Blue.
Current form of Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who made his England debut, became the youngest cricketer to play for India, but his performance in the series was not good and thus he was dropped after three matches. He almost started crying after scoring 42 runs in just three matches against the Three Lions.
While Sanju Samson was rested for this series, Vaibhav took his chance in the first game itself as the 15-year-old scored a half-century in 18 balls in the run chase and today in the second game he scored 20 runs in 9 balls to give India a good start.
