Ishan Kishan performed brilliantly in his Ranji Trophy debut for Jharkhand and missed his double century against Tamil Nadu. This is a great time to show some great form as Ajit Agarkar will be eyeing the players for the home Test against South Africa.

Indian selector Ajit Agarkar will already be under a lot of pressure after Dhruv Jurel’s stellar performance for India in the recently concluded series against West Indies. Furthermore, India’s first-choice keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is set to make a Test comeback with the South Africa series.

Pant could not play in the last series against West Indies due to an injury sustained during the fourth Test in Manchester, England. However, he is fit now and is also ready to play the opening matches for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy season.

Ishan Kishan auditions with ‘Daddy Hundred’ before South Africa Test

Dismissed and forgotten, left-handed batsman Ishan Kishan has not been given a chance in the Indian team in any format of the game. However, the star is setting some strong examples and paving the way for a potential comeback.

The young batsman scored a flurry of runs on his County Championship debut this year and has now made some of the Ranji Trophy debut. He dominated by playing a brilliant inning of 173 runs against Tamil Nadu. Although he missed a double century by a few runs, the innings was good enough to knock the doors of the selectors.

The historic partnership of 314 runs for the seventh wicket ended with Kishan’s dismissal.

Leading Jharkhand as their captain, he came in at number 5 after falling with 3 wickets for only 79 runs on the board. He saw his team reduced to 157 runs for 6 wickets, but Ishan Kishan took charge from one end. He patiently scored his 9th century in first-class cricket.

The left-handed batsman displayed great patience in the 7th wicket partnership and added 314 runs with Sahil Raj, who had scored a century on the first day. His innings ended on the morning of the second day as he was dismissed by RS Ambareesh.

“We would like him to play a little more cricket and show some performances,” Agarkar said on Ishan Kishan earlier this month.

Ishan Kishan was considered as a replacement for Rishabh Pant in the playing eleven for the final match in England. However, he missed the opportunity due to an unfortunate injury and was replaced by Narayan Jagadeesan. After this, Ajit Agarkar wanted him to play and perform more.

“And Ishan – when we picked him for India [as Pant’s replacement in England]He wasn’t fit yet anyway. [N] Jagadeesan was part of the last Test match that we picked when Ishan was injured. He [Ishan] As we know, he is a very good player. But we would like him to play a little more cricket and show some performances,” Agarkar had said earlier this month.

The South Africa Test series is scheduled to begin on November 14, and hence the squad is likely to be revealed later this month or a week later next month.
