Just hours before he grabbed attention on his Instagram story, Ishan Kishan made valuable contributions on the field as India defeated Zimbabwe by seven wickets in the opening T20I of the three-match series at the Harare Sports Club.
After electing to bowl first, India restricted Zimbabwe to 125/7 in 20 overs. Mayank Yadav bowled brilliantly and took 2 wickets for 18 runs, while Prince Yadav also took 2 wickets for 19 runs. Shivam Dubey and Ravi Bishnoi also took one wicket each. For Zimbabwe, Wesley Madhewere scored the highest score of 39 runs, while Tadivanashe Marumani remained unbeaten on 27 runs.
Despite the early dismissal of Abhishek Sharma, India made a fast start while chasing the target. Teenage opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi kept the visitors firmly in control by scoring a blistering 50 runs in just 19 balls with the help of four fours and four sixes.
Batting at number 3, Ishan Kishan played an excellent supporting role. The left-handed batsman scored 35 runs in 24 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes and formed an important partnership with Suryavanshi, which almost closed the match.
Although Ishan Kishan was out after mis-timing a pull shot, captain Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 28 while Tilak Verma remained unbeaten on 6 as India achieved the target in just 13.2 overs and won by seven wickets with 40 balls to spare. Mayank Yadav was adjudged player of the match for his brilliant spell.
CJP explained Jantar Mantar protest
