South African veteran AB de Villiers recently said that he remembers his former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team partner Virat Kohli in Test cricket. De Villiers said that Kohli’s absence in Red-Ball cricket has been felt by both him and the Indian team, saying that fans can still enjoy his appearance in white ball formats.
AB de Villiers further closed his long -standing friendship with Virat Kohli on the cricket field. The pair recently celebrated together as Royal Challengers won the IPL 2025 title. Kohli and de Villiers played together for RCB for more than a decade and made many memorable participation on the field.

Speaking to News24, AB Deilliers said that he and the Indian team miss Kohli in Test cricket. He said that fans can still enjoy their batting in white ball formats for the coming years.

“We and India always remember Virat Kohli in Test cricket. He is my big friend. I also remember him while playing red ball cricket, but at least he is still in white ball format and is expected to expect in the coming several more years,” De Villiers said.
De Villiers scored an average of 9,577 runs in 228 Odis at an average of 53.50, including 25 centuries and 53 half -centuries. The batsman scored 1,672 runs in 78 T20s at a strike rate of 135.16, with 10 half -centuries. He scored 8,756 runs in 114 tests, which included an average 50.66 and 22 centuries and 46 half -centuries.
Virat Kohli retired from Test cricket ahead of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy
Virat Kohli made his Test debut against the West Indies in Kingston on 20 June 2011. He scored 9,230 runs on an average of 46.85, including 30 centuries and 31 half -centuries. Kohli decided to move away from Red-Ball cricket ahead of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
Delhi-born cricketer also captained India in 68 trials, including 40 wins, including a winning series victory in Australia during the 2018–19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Under its leadership, India reached the ICC World Test Championship final in 2021, but lost to New Zealand by seven wickets.
Kohli retired from T20I after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup. The 36 -year -old batsman will fully focus on Odis and will be seen in action next time during the upcoming Australia tour in October.

AB de Villiers praised Shubman Gill for his remarkable performance. The former cricketer said that Gill faced immense pressure while stepping into big roles with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
“Shubman was incredible. He had big shoes to fill, with a lot of pressure, as Virat and Rohit were no longer. But for a young man to step on an uncomfortable tour, it was never easy. It was never easy. It was very impressive the way he came,” said de Villiers.
Shubman Gill converted Rohit Sharma into a Test skipper before the tour of England. The young batsman draws the team 2–2 despite the unexpected squad.
