West Indies southpaw Nicholas Pooran finally broke the shackles of poor form in IPL 2026 when he hit eight sky-scraping sixes on his way to his first half-century of the season, while scoring a magnificent 300.
Lucknow Super Giants are struggling with a lack of form in IPL 2026, as a result of which they are now 10th on the points table with just two wins after playing nine matches in the season.
Under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant, the condition of Super Giants in the points table is only getting worse. Despite superb batting skills, the LSG batsmen have struggled this season, especially former West Indies star Nicholas Pooran.
Despite poor form, LSG retains faith in Nicholas Pooran
It was the power-packed LSG batting line-up that helped them last season, with Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram picked among the scorers. This is why Rishabh Pant’s poor form last season was never a matter of concern for LSG.
However, Pooran has struggled this season, as he scored only 82 runs in the first eight innings and was hitting the ball with a strike rate below 80. It was the worst season for the West Indian southpaw.
However, Lucknow Super Giants have supported the cricketer this season. He was promoted in the batting order on several occasions and was also sent for the Super Over against Kolkata Knight Riders. Despite immense support, Pooran has time and again failed to perform well with the bat.
Nicholas Pooran attacks fearlessly against MI; The LSG star is back to his best
Nicholas Pooran had been struggling with poor form, yet he was once again promoted up the batting order for LSG as Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis made stellar starts opening the innings for them.
Pooran looked his old self as he hit eight sixes in the match and scored 63 runs off just 21 balls before being dismissed in the first over by Corbyn Bosch. Batting at a strike rate of 300, he was seen at his best performance.
His partnership with Mitchell Marsh was a big help for Lucknow Super Giants, who eventually managed to post a mammoth score of 228 runs on the board after being left in an all-win situation with their chances of qualification looking promising.
LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka hints at retaining Nicholas Pooran in 2027
Lucknow Super Giants owner, Sanjiv Goenka is often cited as one of the most interactive owners in the IPL. He is present during his team’s matches across venues in India and is always seen interacting with the players, whether after a win or a loss.
Dr. Goenka has always managed to impress the fans with the way he has been supporting the Super Giants cricketers. After Pooran’s brilliant innings against Mumbai Indians, he has endorsed the real potential of the batsman.
Tonight the clarity, timing, range of your strike is something else, @nicolas_47. 63 runs from 21, in eight stands. The version of you we’ve always believed in. pic.twitter.com/yJAXsb8wpU

Following the tweet in which Goenka praised the southpaw, it is believed that despite his ineffective form and hefty price tag, he could be retained for the next season as well.
