The IPL and PSL windows will collide for the second time in a row. The ICC T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in February-March, has forced the PSL to be shifted to the same window as the IPL from March to May. IPL teams have now selected several key players from the PSL in tomorrow’s mini-auction.

For the first 9 seasons of the Pakistan Super League, the PCB restricted the league to pre-IPL windows to attract more players to the league. This was because the PSL provides much less money and promotion than the IPL, which has now reached a global level.

However, Mohsin Naqvi was forced to move the PSL to the same window as the IPL last season as the PCB hosted the ICC Champions Trophy in the February window. This time the proceedings have been delayed due to their participation in the ICC T20 World Cup.

Former PSL stars bought at huge bids in IPL mini-auction

Ahead of the start of the IPL mini-auction, the PSL got some good and exciting news as many promising former cricketers like Faf du Plessis opted out of the IPL to make their way to the PSL.

Faf du Plessis ended his years-long losing streak in the IPL and moved to the PSL after being released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the mini-auction. He mentioned exploring some other leagues.

Similarly, former England all-rounder Moeen Ali, who has previously represented Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, left the IPL to join the PSL. However, the most interesting development was that several interesting players from the PSL have been selected in the IPL mini-auction.

Some of them were acquired for very high amounts of money, such as Jason Holder and Ben Dwarshuis, who were not purchased at their base price alone.

List of PSL cricketers who have been selected for IPL 2026

This list includes many players who were a part of the Pakistan Super League in the last season, but this season they have been selected for the IPL franchises, and hence, the players will now be in a dilemma as to which league they should prefer.

The IPL undoubtedly offers more money, more publicity and learning, whereas the PSL provides these players with cricket action which is often not given to them as they are overshadowed by the presence of big names in the IPL.

The list is as follows:

10. Luke Wood

The England left-arm fast bowler has played in the IPL before, but was never seen as a proper starting XI player. He then moved to the PSL, where he starred for Peshawar Zalmi and remained in the limelight for some time.

Gujarat Titans have picked up the English left-arm fast bowler at his base price of Rs 75 lakh in this IPL mini-auction. The English pacer is now part of Ashish Nehra’s pace attack, which already includes some reliable options like Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada and Prasidh Krishna.

9. Tim Seifert

New Zealand cricketer Tim Seifert played for the Karachi Kings in Pakistan Super League Season 10, and the New Zealand batsman was later part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team as a backup to English player Phil Salt.

This season, he has been included in the Kolkata Knight Riders camp. Seifert may indeed be offered gametime in the KKR camp, as they will need an opening batsman as well as a wicketkeeper, and given Finn Allen’s less experience as a gloveman, Seifert seems a more reliable option.

8. Adam Milne

Another Kiwi star, who was also a part of Karachi Kings, has been picked by Rajasthan Royals as their only overseas player in this auction. The Royals picked several fast bowlers and Milne was one of them.

Rajasthan Royals picked him up for Rs 40 lakh more than his base price, as the player was bought for Rs 2.40 crore.

7. Finn Allen

Finn Allen was one of the best batsmen in the PSL last season and played a good role for Quetta Gladiators. The New Zealand opening batsman was included as a wicketkeeper batsman by Kolkata Knight Riders.

He was selected in the auction at his base price of Rs 2 crore, and was one of the 6 overseas players selected by Kolkata Knight Riders in the mini-auction and was also the third Kiwi player.

6. Akil Hossein

West Indies all-round spinner and Finn Allen’s Quetta Gladiators teammate, Akeal Hosein, has gone to Chennai Super Kings as the Yellow Team looks for one of Noor Ahmed’s backups.

The left-arm spinner is known to make significant contributions with the bat as well and was bought at his base price of Rs 2 crore.

5. Kyle Jamieson

Another Kiwi star, fast bowler Kyle Jamieson was included in the PSL with Quetta Gladiators; However, the lanky fast bowler has a record of frequently being out of the league due to injuries. He replaced the injured Lockie Ferguson for PBKS last season.

After being ignored initially, the tall, fast bowler was picked up by Delhi Capitals in the final round of the quick auction. Delhi Capitals picked him up for his base price of Rs 2 crore.

4. Jordan Cox

England’s Jordan Cox came into limelight with his antics in The Hundred with the Oval Invincibles team and then starred for Islamabad United in the PSL in 2025. Cox was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the instant auction for his base price of Rs 75 lakh; He was possibly included as a backup to Phil Salt.

3. Matt Short

Australian batsman Matt Short was selected by Chennai Super Kings as an all-rounder. Short has previously played for Punjab Kings in the IPL, but then missed last season and turned to the PSL to represent Islamabad United.

He has been picked by Chennai Super Kings for his base price of Rs 1.5 crore.

2. Ben Dwarshuis

The remaining two players have been bought at huge prices in the auction, eliminating the base price draw in the mini-auction. The Australian left-arm fast bowler has been picked up by Punjab Kings for Rs 4.40 crore, while his base price was Rs 1 crore.

He has previously played for Islamabad United in PSL Season 10.

1.Jason Holder

Most importantly and one of the top 10 most expensive buys of the IPL mini-auction, Jason Holder was not only bought by Gujarat Titans for a huge sum of Rs 7 crore but was also fought hard for him by Chennai Super Kings.

The West Indies all-rounder played several seasons of the IPL before moving to the PSL, where he also represented Islamabad United. Holder is certainly one of the biggest players snatched from the clutches of the PSL.
