Indian Premier League chairman Arun Dhumal urged chief selector Ajit Agarkar to select Vaibhav Suryavanshi for the India national cricket team. Dhumal said Suryavanshi deserves to break Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record as the youngest Indian international debutant.
Suryavanshi produced an excellent batting performance for Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Guwahati on Friday, April 10. The left-handed batsman’s dominance prompted senior cricket officials to discuss his immediate inclusion in the senior national team.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi destroyed Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers
Royal Challengers Bangalore made a strong score of 201 runs at the loss of eight wickets. Rajat Patidar scored 63 runs after the batting collapsed. Rajasthan Royals successfully chased the target and won by six wickets inside 18 overs at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 78 runs in just 26 balls with the help of eight fours and seven sixes. He tore apart the RCB attack, especially targeting Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the powerplay overs.
Suryavanshi faced only four balls from Hazlewood, hitting three fours and a six. Krunal Pandya dismissed Virat Kohli after he was caught near the boundary. Dhruv Jurel remained unbeaten on 81 runs and led Rajasthan Royals to victory.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi leads the race for Orange Cap
Vaibhav Suryavanshi currently holds the coveted Orange Cap. The left-handed batsman has scored 200 runs in four matches for Rajasthan Royals at an average of 50 and an impressive strike rate of 266.66.
Suryavanshi leads his Rajasthan Royals teammates Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel in the run-scoring charts. He also played an extraordinary innings in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup final, scoring 175 runs off just 80 balls.
Ajit Agarkar and the national selection committee may consider Suryavanshi for the upcoming T20 Internationals against Zimbabwe or Ireland. Abhishek Sharma made his T20I debut after a strong domestic performance earlier in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) often sends a second-string team for tours such as Zimbabwe. The upcoming Asian Games in Japan also provides a valuable opportunity for Agarkar to test Suryavanshi before including him in the main team.
