
As the IPL 2026 trade window heats up, recent reports have suggested washington beautiful Gujarat Titans (GT) may move to Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Rumors are rife about the possibility of Washington Sundar moving to Chennai Super Kings
The speculation immediately attracted the attention of fans, especially as Sundar is a native of Tamil Nadu and CSK often shows interest in local talent.
However, those rumors have now been put to rest. Gujarat Titans have made their stand clear – Washington Sundar is not going.
Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra All speculations related to a possible trade have been officially dismissed. Nehra said that the franchise highly values Sundar’s all-round abilities and considers him an important part of their plans for the upcoming season.
“There is no truth in these reports. Washington is an integral part of our setup, and we look forward to seeing him perform in IPL 2026.” Nehra said.
This confirmation eliminates any possibility of a CSK-GT trade involving Sundar during this transfer window.
CSK’s interest and origin of rumors
After news of trade discussions between the two franchises surfaced, talks about Sundar joining CSK started. Fans immediately speculated that the Chennai team wanted to strengthen its spin department and wanted to bring home the Tamil Nadu player.
However, no official negotiations ever took place. Sources close to both teams have clarified that these were only informal discussions, not active trade talks.

Washington Sundar reacts to IPL 2026 trade

“I’m really happy with my development here. GT has given me great opportunities, and I’m focused on performing for the team.” Sundar said.
With Sundar’s stay confirmed, Gujarat Titans continue to strengthen their core group ahead of IPL 2026. The team management is focusing on stability, especially after reshuffling parts of its squad after 2025. Sundar’s retention ensures that GT maintains a balanced combination of spin, power-hitting and control in the middle overs.
