IPL 2026: Delhi Capitals secure experience from homegrown player Nitish Rana
Delhi Capitals have successfully acquired the services of experienced Indian middle-order batsman Rana from Rajasthan, which was officially confirmed by the BCCI on Saturday. Rana, who is originally from Delhi and represents the state in domestic cricket, will now join his domestic franchise to strengthen their crucial middle-order stability. The left-handed batsman has joined the team at his current fee of Rs 4.2 crore, which was the same price RR bought for him in the auction ahead of the IPL 2025 season.
Rana’s primary role is to provide the much-needed strength to the middle-order that DC is looking for in the upcoming season, bringing in an experienced Indian core player into the batting lineup. He is a highly experienced IPL campaigner, having featured in a total of 118 league matches in his career before this latest move. Before joining the Jaipur-based franchise, Rana represented two other champion teams, and achieved title-winning status with both Mumbai Indians (MI) And Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR),
In his recent performance for the Royals in the IPL 2025 season, he scored 217 runs in 11 matches at an average of 21.70. Notably, his strike rate of 161.94 in those matches shows his aggressive intent and ability to pace the innings during the middle overs, which is a valuable asset for DC. Additionally, Rana brings valuable leadership experience to the DC team, having captained the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023 when regular captain Shreyas Iyer was ruled out due to injury.

IPL 2026: Rajasthan Royals bring back finisher Donovan Ferreira
In this trade, Rajasthan acquired the services of South African all-rounder. Donovan FerreiraWhich marks his return to his parent franchise from Delhi. The IPL announced that Ferreira would play for Rajasthan Royals after completing the trade, with his fee significantly increased as part of the transfer agreement. Their fees were increased from the initial INR 75 lakhs Delhi paid a new trade value of Rs 1 crore for him during the IPL 2025 auction, which was a significant mark-up to secure his return.
Ferreira’s acquisition directly addresses a key weakness for Rajasthan, as he is known for his exploits lower down the order, an area where the Royals struggled in their efforts to finish the innings strongly last season. The South African middle-order batsman recently demonstrated his leadership abilities by captaining the Proteas during their tour of Pakistan, highlighting his abilities beyond the bat. Despite his high value as an overseas finisher, Ferreira has seen limited action in the IPL, playing only three matches in total in his career in the league.
He played only one match for Delhi in the recent 2025 season, where he scored only 1 run and was not used as a bowler in his only outing. His overall IPL statistics remain modest, with his few performances recording only 9 runs at a poor average of 3 and a strike rate of 64.29, reflecting his lack of opportunities. However, the Royals clearly see his inherent ability as an overseas all-rounder and a valuable asset for the finisher role, justifying the decision to increase his salary to secure his return before the retention deadline.
