Given the history between the two players, the rumor quickly gained momentum. The leadership change ahead of IPL 2024 – when Pandya replaced Rohit as captain – had already sparked intense discussion among fans. Shortly afterwards, a franchise official also clarified the situation in front of the media and emphasized that there was no dispute between the players.

“There is no truth in the reports of feud. Rohit Sharma is the pillar of this franchise and Hardik has the full support of the senior group.”

The rumor gained momentum partly because fans noticed that Rohit and Pandya were training separately during pre-season practice sessions. However, team management noted that such arrangements are common and typically linked to workload management and recovery programs.
