Australia’s fast bowling leader Mitchell Starc He has launched a scathing attack against Indian media pundits and certain individuals, accusing them of spreading misinformation regarding shoulder and elbow injuries that will rule him out of the early matches. ipl 2026.
In a candid Instagram statement on Saturday, the Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer confirmed that he has been battling a recently diagnosed problem in his shoulder and elbow – an injury which he says he was completely unaware of during the Australian summer. This revelation comes amid growing speculation in Indian cricket circles questioning his fitness and commitment to the franchise.
“Despite the opinions and views of some individuals through the Indian media and on their forums, I am currently rehabilitating and managing my shoulder and elbow injury, which I was not aware of during the Australian summer,” Stark wrote.
The left-arm pacer did not hold back from criticizing those who had questioned his availability, insisting that the outside comments had crossed the line.
“These individuals have made some strong statements about my involvement in the IPL and have given very false opinions about the players, promoting them as facts, and claiming to know my body better than I do.” He added.
Mitchell Starc apologizes to Delhi Capitals and their fans
Refuting media reports, Starc acknowledged the inconvenient timing of the setback and expressed regret towards the Delhi Capitals organization and their supporters. He refrained from specifying how many matches he would miss but reiterated his commitment to join the franchise as soon as possible.
“With that said, I acknowledge that this injury setback and timing has been disruptive for the Delhi team and I apologize for this and to the fans for not being available for the early part of this season. I am committed to joining DC, updating the team in constant communication and will continue to do what I can to be available for DC as soon as possible.” Stark said.
Former Indian opening batsman Aakash Chopra emerged as one of the most prominent voices questioning Starc’s absence. In a recent episode of his YouTube channel, Chopra expressed doubts about the fast bowler’s fitness status, pointing out the gap since the conclusion of the Ashes series in January this year.
“If Mitchell Starc is not even going to start, then what is Cricket Australia doing? … Even though he is absolutely fit. He has already said goodbye to T20Is. So, what has he done in the last two months?” Chopra had commented.

Confusion over Stark’s no objection certificate
The uncertainty over Starc’s availability was further heightened by mixed messages from the Delhi Capitals camp. In the recent press conference, the franchise management refused to confirm the nature of the injury, only saying that Cricket Australia (CA) has not yet issued the required No Objection Certificate (NOC) for his participation.
Adding to the confusion, CA’s official website, cricket.com.au, had earlier suggested that the governing body was deliberately blocking Starc from early IPL fixtures to manage his workload ahead of the congested international schedule of 2026 and 2027.
Starc’s emphatic clarification now confirms that the injury is physical rather than administrative, drawing a strong line between medical reality and the speculation that he says has dominated Indian media coverage in recent days.
