The IPL 2026 auction is likely to take place on December 15 and its date has been finalised. This time the venues may be changed from Saudi Arabia to India, the retention will be announced on November 15.

Along with the announcement of the date, confirmation of the venue was also expected; However, no such update has come yet. On previous occasions, the auction was held in Dubai in 2023 and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 2024. However, according to reports, India itself wants to host it on this occasion.

The IPL retention deadline has been set for November 15, and hence, each team will have to choose their retained players and also regulate their purse before the upcoming mini-auction, the dates of which have been announced.

WPL auction will be held at the end of November, many big names are included in the auction pool

The Women’s Premier League, on the other hand, will be in for a mega-auction as it awaits its fourth season. It is scheduled to be held on November 27 in Delhi and will be the first mega-auction in the history of the WPL after the inaugural season.

This is the first time that a WPL auction will see the use of right-to-match, or RTM, cards. Some well-known players have also been released by the franchises, who can make good use of this facility.

Some of the prominent names like Alyssa Healy, former Australian captain Meg Lanning, India’s World Cup Player of the Tournament Deepti Sharma, Sophie Ecclestone, Amelia Kerr, Laura Wolvaardt and many others will enter the auction for the next season.

The mini-auction will include some stars including Cameron Green

Australia’s big all-rounder Cameron Green is likely to be the most expensive player to be sold in the upcoming season of IPL. However, along with the big Australian all-rounder, there will be more players who could be brought in the auction after being released from their teams.

Players like Sam Curran and Devon Conway could be released by CSK, while if the Royals are unable to strike a deal, they will likely release Sanju Samson to the auction table. The release of T. Natarajan, Mitchell Starc and other players could lead to a huge increase in the purse of Delhi Capitals.

LSG is another franchise that could part with their pace deck, who was injured last season, and David Miller, who looked ineffective. KKR may send out Quinton de Kock despite his return to international cricket, and Punjab Kings may say goodbye to some of their Australian cricketers.
