On Thursday, January 5, Royal Challengers Bengaluru lifted the Women’s Premier League trophy for the second time after pulling off a thrilling six-wicket win over Delhi Capitals in a high-scoring WPL 2026 final at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara.

Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Wall power RCB to chase a famous target in WPL 2026 final

Chasing a mammoth target of 204, Smriti Mandhana-led RCB remained patient and crossed the line with just two balls remaining, and this classic finish left Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma surprised.

The charge was led by captain Mandhana, who played one of the finest innings in WPL history. The India women’s vice-captain scored 87 runs in just 41 balls and took complete control of the target. At the other end, Georgia Woll also played a brilliant inning of 79 runs during the successful chase.

Wole and Mandhana stitched a record partnership of 165 runs for the second wicket to ensure RCB’s second WPL title, leaving Delhi Capitals well behind in the game.

RCB created history with rare double title

This victory is special for Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB had already tasted WPL glory in 2024, and now they have done it again in 2026. More importantly, she has created history in both Indian franchise cricket – the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

For the first time, the same team now holds both the men’s and women’s titles. After winning their maiden IPL title last year under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar, RCB have now added the WPL trophy to their cabinet, completing a rare double.

Kohli’s wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma also basked in the joy of the moment. She shared a photo of the victorious RCB Women on her Instagram story repeating history and celebrating the team’s WPL 2026 glory.

She wrote on Instagram: “RCB Women did it again. History, repeated .”
