Team India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill will start his rehabilitation at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru from December 1. Gill is recovering and is expected to resume training, but his availability for the upcoming five-match T20 series will depend on medical assessment and preparation.

The captain is out of the field after suffering a neck injury during the first Test against South Africa in Kolkata. He was dropped from the second Test and ODI phase of the series. The ongoing multi-format series will conclude with the Men in Blue under Suryakumar Yadav taking on the Proteas in the T20Is.

Gill is expected to fly from Chandigarh to Bengaluru on Monday to begin the next phase of his rehabilitation. He has avoided batting during this period and is likely to resume batting under the guidance of the BCCI medical staff.

“It is learned that the 26-year-old player had undergone a physiotherapy session in Mumbai before flying to Chandigarh to spend time with his family. He will fly from Chandigarh to Bengaluru on Monday,” the report said.

Shubman Gill has not felt any discomfort despite several flights in recent times

The report said that Shubman Gill has not felt any discomfort even after taking several flights in recent times. A BCCI official told The Times of India that Gill’s rehabilitation is progressing in the right direction and there are no concerns at this stage.

“There are no red flags at this time and he has made several flights without any discomfort. All efforts right now are aimed at getting him back into the park but this will not be a rushed process.”

“The moment he is 100% and feels he is ready to fight, he will be back in the team. He is an important player across all formats and everyone wants him to be fully prepared.”

Shubman Gill’s participation in the T20 series depends on his recovery.

Shubman Gill was forced off the field with a neck injury after facing only three balls in the first Test and did not return for the remainder of the match. He was taken to hospital and discharged, but the injury was so serious that he had to miss the second Test in Guwahati.

Gill traveled with the team for the second Test but could not recover in time to play. His availability for the upcoming T20 series starting on December 9 will depend on his recovery. After missing the second Test and ODI, Gill is working hard to regain full fitness before the start of the shortest format.

He will now undergo structured rehabilitation in Bengaluru, where his workload and recovery will be closely monitored by the BCCI medical staff.
