Indonesia fast bowler Gede Priyandana etched his name in the cricket history books during the first T20 match against Cambodia in Bali on Tuesday, December 23. The 28-year-old right-arm fast bowler bowled a remarkable over in which he took five wickets, a feat never achieved before in T20 International cricket.
This incident happened in the 16th over of Cambodia’s innings. Chasing a target of 168, they were at 106 for 5 after 15 overs with five wickets in hand. The match was tied and Priyandana was brought into the attack for the first time. His introduction changed the course of the game.

Gede Priyandana bowled her first over and completed a hat-trick by dismissing three batsmen in three consecutive balls. After the dot ball, he dismissed two more batsmen to complete an incredible five-wicket over. Cambodia could score only one run in the entire over, which came from wide.
Chasing the target of 168 runs, Cambodia was all out for 107 runs and lost the match by 60 runs. Earlier in the match, Priyandana had also opened the batting for Indonesia, but could only score six runs. However, his bowling performance grabbed the headlines and ensured a historic win for his team.
Before this match, his best bowling performance was 4 wickets for 8 runs against Myanmar. They had achieved this only last month in a rain-shortened 10-over game.

Gede Priyandana became the first bowler to take five wickets in an over in international T20 cricket. Before this match, no bowler, male or female, had achieved the feat of taking five wickets in a single over at the international level.
Before Priyandana, the rare feat of taking five wickets in an over had been seen only twice in men’s T20 cricket, and both instances had come in domestic tournaments. This had never happened on the international stage.
The first example came in the 2013–14 season, when Bangladesh bowler Al-Amin Hossain achieved the feat while playing for UCB-BCB XI in the Victory Day T20 Cup against Abahani Limited.
The five-wicket over broke a long-standing international record
On 14 occasions in international cricket, bowlers have taken four wickets in a single over. That barrier was finally broken when a bowler took five wickets in an over, a first in the history of the international game.
