Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who led India to its first World Cup title in 2025, has predicted the results of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. Not only did he predict India to be the winners, but he also predicted Suryakumar Yadav to be the highest scorer in the tournament for India.
Under the leadership of legendary captain Rohit Sharma, the Indian team won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. This ended India’s 11-year-long wait for an ICC title since the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
Not only did India win the T20 World Cup, but the Rohit-led team commanded the victory with stellar performances from Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah. Overall, India remained unbeaten throughout the World Cup.
Indian women captain predicts winners of ICC T20 World Cup 2026
Since the last World Cup, India under new captain Suryakumar Yadav has been the strongest T20I team in the world. Under Yadav’s leadership, India have lost only 6 T20I matches since the last World Cup and have not lost a single series since then.
India is truly number one. The 1st-ranked T20I team in the ICC Men’s T20I Rankings and will enter the upcoming World Cup as the defending champions. Additionally, they are also the official hosts of the competition along with Sri Lanka.
The action will begin on February 7 and recently, Harmanpreet Kaur, in an interview with ICC, predicted India to regain the title in this edition as well. He would have kept in mind India’s unwavering dominance on home soil and the support given by the home crowd.
He also predicted that Australia, South Africa and England would be the other three semi-finalists along with India.

Harmanpreet Kaur predicts Suryakumar Yadav’s return to form ahead of ICC T20 World Cup
The Indian captain has been doing a remarkable job as the captain of the team; However, as a batsman he has certainly struggled to maintain his focus. The T20I stalwart could score only 201 runs in 17 matches for India in 2025, with his average being less than 15 for the entire year.
However, Harmanpreet Kaur has predicted that like the previous edition of the T20 World Cup, Suryakumar Yadav’s bat will speak volumes and he will emerge as the leading run-scorer for India in the ICC event.
Although Surya’s form has been a matter of concern for the Indians recently, but with 8 more games to go until the World Cup begins, the Indian captain could be well and truly back in his element. Harmanpreet also took the name of Jasprit Bumrah as the bowler who took the most wickets in the World Cup.
Although with the World Cup in the subcontinent, there is more chance for an Indian spinner like Kuldeep Yadav or Varun Chakravarthy to claim that spot, Bumrah still remains one of the greatest in the business. He also said that the biggest six of the tournament can come from the bat of Abhishek Sharma.
Jasprit Bumrah named Player of the Tournament for another T20 World Cup
Harmanpreet predicted the Player of the Tournament to retain her medal from India’s victorious campaign in 2024. Fast bowling legend Jasprit Bumrah was not the highest wicket taker for India in the World Cup; He was the second highest, yet a surefire match-winner, and was named player of the tournament.
Bumrah recently took his 100th T20I wicket, becoming the second Indian bowler to do so and the first bowler to take 100+ wickets in all three formats of international cricket. The legend is also close to taking 500 international wickets for India.
