The Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently restructuring its selection panel, with two new selectors. In particular, the announcement of India’s test squad for the upcoming West Indies series is likely to be delayed, only with the expected decision in the last week of September.

India is set to host the West Indies for the two -match testing series in October. This will be India’s first home red-ball assignment as Shubman Gill was named Captain. The young opener, who recently guided the previous team of England, will lead the national side on the soil of the house for the first time in any format.

BCCI Selection Committee to get two new members

Ajit Agarkar will continue as the chairman of the BCCI Selection Committee, but two members of the current panel are expected to be replaced, with Shiva Sundar Das, Subroto Banerjee, or Sreedharan Sharath with those who are likely to make way.

The interview process for new selectors usually takes about two weeks, which can delay the team’s announcement. In particular, the selection committee currently includes Agkar, Das, Banerjee, Ajay Ratra and Sharath.

A BCCI official told the Insidesport, “We still have a month, and since it is a home series, it is a home series, it will not be an issue. The ideal situation will be to onboard new selectors before announcing the Test squad. But if the process takes time, the current committee will announce the square in the second or third week if the process takes time.”

India faced West Indies in the October Test series after England Draw

After his 2–2 draw in a five-match series against England, India will return to Red-Ball cricket in October for a two-match series against West Indies.

The first game will be played from 2 to 6 October at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, while the second will be held from 10 to 14 October at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

During the tour of England, the selectors named the 21-member squad, including injury replacement, including 16 players in the series at least one match. This gave the selectors a lot of options and performance to assess.

While many players were influenced by their contribution, some failed to give results. These underperformers now face the risk of dropping the squad for the upcoming West Indies series.

India’s West Indies Test Squad is likely by the third week of September.

If the interview process for the new panel is delayed due to the month of September celebration, the current committee may finalize the squad by the third week. The team is expected to be largely unchanged from the tour of England.

Shreyas Iyer and Karun Nair are likely to have a big debate. The availability of Jaspreet Bumrah will also be a talkings point, which is looking at her Asia Cup workload.

Nair, who remembered one after a magnificent domestic season, weakened in England, scored just one half -century in eight innings on batting -friendly tracks. Sarfaraz Khan and Devdut Padikkal are also waiting for opportunities.

Rishabh Pant is still recovering from a fracture leg and is not yet to walk without any artist, making him suspicious of the West Indies series. Dhruv Jurael can become the primary wicketkeeper, while Ishaan Kishan and N Jagadisin are in dispute as backup keepers.
