India Will face South Africa in the second match of the five-match T20 series. This article provides details about the playing 11 of India vs South Africa for the second match of the series.
India Playing XI vs South Africa – 2nd T20I, South Africa tour of India 2025:
Openers: Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill
India would like to continue the good work done by the home team in the first T20I against South Africa and register another win in the second game of the five-match series.
The Men in Blue performed well with the ball, defending the score of 175 against a strong South African batting lineup.
Having said that, the story was a bit different with the bat for the Suryakumar Yadav-led team as they did not get off to a good start losing a few wickets in the powerplay, which soon became five.
A quick-fire half-century came from the bat of Hardik Pandya, who was making a comeback after missing the previous T20I assignment against Australia, to get the team out of trouble and take them to a fighting total.
As far as T20 cricket is concerned, the reigning T20 World Cup winners will hope to perform better with the bat on a ground that is considered a high-scoring ground.
For that to happen, the team will rely on the opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill to get the team off to a good start in the first six overs.
Along with batting well in partnership, both the batsmen will also be supported to make significant contributions individually, which was not the case in the previous match.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Tilak Verma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dubey, Jitesh Sharma (wicketkeeper), Akshar Patel.
If we talk about India’s middle-order composition for the upcoming game, it is expected to remain the same as the previous game, with Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma batting at number three and four respectively.
The pair will be followed by three all-rounders in the form of Axar Patel, who will in all probability be used as a floater if the team loses early wickets, as Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dubey did in the first game, batting at number six and seven.
However, the batting order may change depending on the playing conditions and the opponent’s bowling combination.
Pandya and Dubey will also be joined by wicketkeeper batsman Jitesh Sharma, who played his part in the last over of India’s batting innings and also performed brilliantly behind the stumps.
Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakraborty, Arshdeep Singh
As far as the bowling attack is concerned, it is a force to be reckoned with in the presence of Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy and Arshdeep Singh.
The trio of bowlers, who were at the top of their game in the last match, will be looking to perform well in consecutive matches.
The above mentioned bowlers will be supported by Hardik Pandya, who contributed with the ball as well by taking one wicket, and Axar Patel also managed to take a few wickets.
The bowling lineup will be expected to deliver the same performance as it showed in the first T20 match.
