Kaif selected Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma as openers, number 3 with Tilak Verma and Captain Suryakumar Yadav at number 4.
Abhishek has scored 535 runs in 17 T20I matches at the 193.84 strike rate, including two centuries and two fifty. He is currently the ICC’s top ranked T20i batter. Sanju broke hundreds of three T20Is in 2024, while Tilak scored 749 runs in 24 innings at an average of 49.93, including two hundreds.

Mohammad Kaif chose Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dubey as all -rounders. He was part of India’s 2024 T20 World Cup winning campaign. Washington Sundar was slapped at number 8, which was considered the ideal successor of retired Ravindra Jadeja.

India to start 2025 Asia Cup campaign against UAE on 10 September
