Team India is likely to travel to Bangladesh this year after several discussions with the Indian cricket governing body, BCCI. As reported, the Bangladesh Cricket Board is expected to get approval to host the white-ball series on July 15.

Due to a possible white-ball series against Bangladesh in Bangladesh, the BCCI may consider moving the T20I series against Afghanistan a few days earlier than the originally planned date.

Bangladesh may host India for a white-ball series in September

According to a Times of India report, the limited overs series against Afghanistan was likely to start on September 14, but if the Indian cricket board wants to prioritize the series against Bangladesh, the India vs Afghanistan series could be pushed to September 17.

“India’s white-ball tour of Bangladesh is close to approval and may be pushed back to accommodate the three T20 matches scheduled against Afghanistan,” TOI reported.

India vs Afghanistan T20I series likely to be rescheduled

India is set to travel to Sri Lanka for a 2-match Test series with the first match from August 15 to 19 and the second match from August 23 to 27. If BCCI shifts the short series to September 17, they will have a wide window where the series against Bangladesh is possible.

“It is reliably learned that discussions are underway to bring forward the start of that short series to September 17, which will allow enough time to accommodate a short tour of Bangladesh after the Sri Lanka Tests. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is keen to hold a six-match white-ball series in September,” as per the media report.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is still hopeful of arranging a white-ball home series against India. It could be a 6-match competition, subject to BCCI approval. The BCB is desperate to arrange a series on its home ground to restore its relationship with the neighboring cricket board, which was soured ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup when BCB officials refused to send its national cricket team to India for this specific tournament.

Bangladesh hopes to get green signal from BCCI

Since the controversial incident, many things have changed in the BCB as newly elected officials have taken charge to take the board and the country’s cricket forward. A series between India and Bangladesh was originally scheduled to take place last year. Due to political turmoil, the series did not take place as it was written on the board.

A BCB official told Times of India that they hope to host the Men in Blue for a series soon. Although they are yet to get approval from the BCCI, BCB is hopeful as the Indian cricket board has not given a nod for the bilateral series in Bangladesh.

A BCB official told the media house, “We are optimistic about the tour. We have not yet got the green signal from the BCCI, but they have also not said that they are not coming. So we are hoping to get a positive response from the BCCI soon.”
