The 1983 World Cup winner Syed Kirmani expressed deep disappointment over the status of modern-day cricket, saying that the game has lost grace and stood for once. Talking about the final of the controversial Asia Cup 2025, Kirmani completed the shortage of sports and slammed India to draw politics in sports.
Former India wicketkeeper revealed that it was filled with messages from friends and fans in the United States, UK and UAE, questioning what has happened to the Indian cricket team and why politics has entered the field. He described the Asia Cup 2025 final as “disgusting”.
From the beginning of the Asia Cup 2025, the India-Pakistan rivalry topped. In his group match, Indian players refused to join hands with Pakistani players, and even captain Suryakumar Yadav dedicated the victory of seven wickets to the victims of the Indian Army and the Pahgam terror attack.

Kirmani urged the players to keep the personal or political agenda away from the field and focus on the game completely. The former wicketkeeper slammed Suryakumar Yadav to donate fees for his entire Asia Cup 2025 match to the Indian Army and after the finals.

He said, “Politics should not enter the game in general. Leave politics. Whatever is away from the playground, leave it there.
