Due to the shocking struggle of the batsmen against the spinners, India’s perfect performance in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 is facing serious doubts. And now, ahead of the Super 8 round, former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has further added to the defending champions’ worries.

Mohammad Aamir warns Men in Blue

Mohammad Aamir has boldly claimed that India may not even reach the semi-finals of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. The Men in Blue entered the Super 8 round of the tournament as an undefeated team after winning all their group matches.

On paper, everything looks seamless, but the weaknesses of the batting lineup have already been exposed by teams like the United States, Namibia and the Netherlands. Young opener Abhishek Sharma has had to struggle a lot as he was out for ducks in his first three matches.

Overall, India’s batting looks shaky, and big teams like South Africa and West Indies could exploit these weaknesses in the next crucial round to push them back in the race for the semi-finals.

Mohammad Amir predicts India’s early exit, picks South Africa and West Indies for semi-finals

On the show ‘Harna Mana Hai’, the host asked Mohammad Aamir who he thinks will reach the semi-finals from Group A of Super 8, and the former Pakistani fast bowler was candid about his choice. Amir picked “South Africa and West Indies” as the probable teams to make the top 4 from that group.

When the host expressed surprise and asked why he thought India could not reach the semi-finals, Aamir shook his head and clarified that he does not see the defending champions reaching that far in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026.

Aamir said, “If you watch their matches, except the Pakistan match, the batting collapsed in all the other matches. The pressure will increase in the Super 8 matches. The way South Africa and West Indies are playing, they can beat any team.”

The do-or-die phase of T20 World Cup 2026 is set to begin on February 21.

Meanwhile, the Men in Blue have a challenging schedule in the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup 2026. They will take on South Africa in their first Super 8 match in Ahmedabad on Sunday, February 22. After that, they will travel to Chennai to face Zimbabwe on Thursday, February 26.

Their last Super 8 game will see them take on an in-form and dangerous West Indies team at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 1. In this round, every match will be important, so the Men in Blue cannot afford any mistakes as it will hurt their chances for semi-final qualification.

The other Super 8 groups are equally intense. Pakistan, New Zealand, England and Sri Lanka will compete closely for the two semi-final spots from Group B. Aamir feels that Pakistan and New Zealand have a strong chance of making it to the semi-finals. The Super 8 round will begin on Saturday, February 21, with Pakistan taking on Colombo’s R. Will face New Zealand at Premadasa Stadium.
