According to this player, the main reason for Jadeja’s better performance is his rise up in the batting order. He confirmed that reaching the crucial number six position had fundamentally changed his approach to the game.
“As Gauti bhai (Gambhir) said, I am at number six right now. So I am thinking more as a proper batsman and it works for me.” Jadeja said during the post-match ceremony.
This change in mindset represents a significant evolution from his previous role. Jadeja explained that his position at number eight or nine for many years required a “different” mindset. Now, thinking “more as a proper batsman” has obviously brought out the best in his abilities. This change appears to be part of a broader, ongoing team philosophy. “I think we know what brand of cricket we have been playing in the last five, six months. So, as a team it is a good sign that we will continue this for a long time.” He highlighted the consistent strategy under Gambhir’s leadership.
Why was Jadeja chosen as the Player of the Series against West Indies?
The scale of Jadeja’s performance fully justified the Player of the Series award. His most notable contribution came in the opening game in Ahmedabad, where he scored a crucial 104 with the bat. Complementing these batting skills, he was equally impressive with the ball, taking eight wickets in two matches.

“To be honest, I don’t think much about records. I just focus on contributing with both bat and ball to help my team win. I always look forward to doing that.” He explained in detail. “I feel if I don’t perform with bat and ball, it doesn’t reflect my value as a player.”
