In the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, a public interest has been filed before the Supreme Court seeking the cancellation of a public interest litigation (PIL), beyond the clash of Marki India vs Pakistan.

Four law students played in Dubai a few days before the India vs Pakistan match are to be played under the leadership of Urvashi Jain, advocates Sneha Rani, Abhishek Verma and MD Anas Chaudhary.
“Cricket cannot be placed above national interests, citizens’ lives, or sacrifices of armed personnel,” the petition stated that the apex court urged to intervene.
The petitioners have also sought directions for rapid implementation of the National Sports Government Act, 2025 to regulate such decisions in the future.
The BCCI is ever facing serious criticism as it was announced that India vs Pakistan match will take place this year.

No bilateral game between 2 countries
Bilateral relations between India and Pakistan have been suspended for more than a decade. India suspended relations after a terrorist attack in Mumbai in 2008.
Since then, both teams have played just one bilateral series when Pakistan visited India for a small limited-over series in 2012/13.
While bilateral relations are suspended, India and Pakistan have regularly played against each other in ICC competitions and Asia Cups.
