Former National Cricket Team of India has predicted the fate of India and Pakistan in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle to open batsman Akash Chopra.
Akash Chopra said that both India and Pakistan have a good chance to go to the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27.

Speaking on his official YouTube channel, cricketer-turn-cumpers predicted that India would win their home chain against the West Indies, South Africa and Australia, which would be to score important WTC points, but it would not be easy as the team is in a transition stage. Akash Chopra said:

“India’s domestic chain is against Australia, West Indies and South Africa. I think we will win these three series. We will win against West Indies and South Africa, although it may not be straight, as we are going through an infection, and also defeating Australia.”
India qualified for the finals in the first two cycles of the ICC World Test Championship, but suffered defeat against New Zealand and Australia.
In the cycle of 2023–25, the team led by Rohit Sharma had a great chance to make it in their third consecutive finals, but 0-3 Whitewash in the Home Series against New Zealand reduced expectations.
You cannot say that India will qualify to ensure – Akash Chopra
India recently attracted a five -match Test series on English soil against the England National Cricket Team and currently ranked third with a PCT of 46.67 on the WTC Points Table.
Akash Chopra believes that India will perform well in a distant test series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand and is running for a place in the WTC final, but no one can be rapid about their opportunities. He said:
“Our distant series is against Sri Lanka. I am hoping that we will get a lot of points there. New Zealand is difficult. I think we should be fine. We will run once again. We will be in the top three or four. Surely, because we are going through a transition, you cannot say that India can qualify for a strong competition, but I can qualify for a strong competition”

Talking about India’s hardcore rivals, Akash Chopra predicted that Pakistan would perform well in the domestic series against New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka, and simply needs to compete well against England in a distant series. He feels that Shaan Masood -led aspect has got a good opportunity to make it in his first WTC final.
“Pakistan’s domestic series are against New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka. They should really be fine. Pakistan should perform well at home until they start making roads. Their distant series are against England, West Indies and Bangladesh.
“Pakistan again has a favorable draw. Win in the West Indies and Bangladesh, competing a little in England, and defeated Sri Lanka, New Zealand and South Africa at home. Pakistan has a good opportunity. However, I have said that there was no West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Bangladi series about Pakistan before.
