Aminul Islam will not travel to watch India vs Pakistan: The 2026 T20 World Cup India vs Pakistan is just hours away. The blockbuster clash will finally take place after weeks of drama with the Pakistan team boycotting the match against the Men in Blue. However, they changed their stance on the boycott and decided to play the marquee match of the ICC event.

However, the dispute is not resolved, as is Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam, who played a big role in convincing Pakistan to reconsider its stance and play against Suryakumar Yadav’s team during the ICC meeting in Lahore. However, in a turn of events, the BCB President has decided not to travel to Colombo to watch the India vs Pakistan match on Sunday.

Bangladesh refuses India vs Pakistan meeting

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi invited high-level representatives of BCB and some other Asian cricket boards to Colombo to end the dispute between BCB and BCCI and restart the culture of handshake between India and Pakistan, which was stopped by the Men in Blue during the Asia Cup.

It is understood that Aminul Islam has changed his mind at the last minute and will not travel to Sri Lanka for the meeting, and will also not watch India vs Pakistan. BCB officials confirmed the situation to Cricbuzz after a meeting on Saturday, as Aminul Islam decided to return to Dhaka from Kuwait, where he attended the Asian Cricket Council conference.

Aminul Islam will not watch India vs Pakistan!

BCB umpires committee chairman Iftikhar Rahman said, “I spoke to Aminul Islam. Since Bangladesh is not in it, he said, ‘Why should I go there just to watch the match?’ So he refused. Maybe earlier he said that he would go, but later he realized that if Bangladesh is not playing, then what is the point of going unnecessarily.

The meeting was scheduled to take place on Sunday as the list also included Emirates Cricket Board Secretary General Mubasshir Usmani. Some rumors suggested that representatives from the top five cricket boards, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh would also be involved. However, the meeting is now in limbo with Bangladesh’s withdrawal.

Why is Bangladesh not in T20 World Cup 2026?

Bangladesh were pulled out by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after sticking to their stance of changing the venue from India to Sri Lanka citing security reasons. Bangladesh government advisor Asif Nazrul said that his country will participate in the 2026 T20 World Cup only if its schedules are changed.

The decision came after their star fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman, who was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 9.20 crore, was released after a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) order. BCCI did not give any official reason for this omission. This created a dispute between the two countries.

However, despite assurances from the apex body, the Bangla Tigers did not change their stance and were replaced by Scotland in Group C, which included England, West Indies, Nepal and Italy.
