The hopes of clashing of an India vs Pakistan cricket in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 have been confirmed by a senior sports official official that Pakistan’s hockey teams will be allowed to participate in two major events in India, and they are the Asia Cup and Junior World Cup.
The Asia Cup for hockey is scheduled to be held in Rajgir, Bihar from 27 August to 7 September, while the Junior World Cup is scheduled to be held in Chennai and Madurai from 28 November to 10 December. If the plans move forward, this operation will mark Pakistan’s first visit to India since Sindhor.

Sources in the Sports Ministry of Sports of India revealed that the BCCI has not yet made any official request about men in Blue’s participation in the upcoming Asia Cup T2025 against Pakistan. Once the BCCI is formally contacted for the same, the Sports Ministry is expected to call.

As mentioned by PTI, the source said, “BCCI is yet to reach the ministry on it. We will address this query when they contact us.”
Meanwhile, India and Pakistan have not played a full bilateral chain for nearly 20 years, and even in the multi-nation tournament, their matches were uncertain after the attack of Pahalgam terror in April, where 26 tourists lost their lives and led the military war between the two countries.

However, a senior official has made it clear that India will not prevent Pakistan from participating in any global or continental programs held in the country as they cannot go against international sports rules including those in the Olympic charter.
This means that in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, an India vs. Pakistan is on the face card, in which the BCCI does not deny participation in the tournament.
Saying that, the officer clarified that there would be no discount on the matter of bilateral cricket series with Pakistan. He insisted that India and Pakistan can only participate in the Asia Cup or World Cup, but a bilateral chain between the two countries stays away from the table.

The source said, “We are not against any team competing in India in a multinational competition. If we try to stop Pakistan, it will be seen as a violation of the Olympic charter. But bilateral is different, and there will be no discount on that front.”

Meanwhile, the Sports Ministry official has said that preventing Pakistan’s hockey team from playing in India will go against the Olympic charter, which acts like a rule book of global sports events. It promotes using sports to build peace and cooperation between countries.
If a host country like India tries to prevent a rival nation from participating in the multi-nation tournament, it can damage the possibilities of hosting future international programs. Therefore, allowing Pakistan to participate in multi-nation sports is not only about fair sports, but it also protects India’s global reputation.
