Saikia has expressed full confidence that the Men in Blue will repeat the history of winning the 2024 T20 World Cup and win the third title for the country. Their confidence seemed so strong that many fans joked that the final result had already been “declared” before the match.

“India will bring home the trophy. We need to win it. We want to repeat Barbados’ performance in Ahmedabad. I think we will win easily,” ANI quoted the BCCI secretary as saying.

MCA president happy after England’s defeat

India sealed their place in the final after a thrilling win over England in the second semi-final at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was a high-pressure night and England gave them a tough fight, yet the defending champions held on and made it to the final.

The entire nation is happy with this win and Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) President Ajinkya Naik said that the entire Mumbai cricket community felt proud after watching the thriller.

Ajinkya Naik said, “It is a matter of happiness for everyone. India has won the semi-final in Mumbai. We are all very happy. And all the fans of Mumbai cricket are happy that we have won the semi-final against England at the Wankhede Stadium.”

India vs England Semifinal Highlights

Talking about the semi-final encounter, India put up a thrilling performance by defeating England to enter the final of the T20 World Cup 2026. The defending champions posted a mammoth score of 253 runs after some brilliant batting led by Sanju Samson, who scored 89 runs in just 42 balls with the help of seven sixes and eight fours.

Shivam Dubey (43), Ishan Kishan (39), Hardik Pandya (27) and Tilak Verma (21) have also made valuable contributions with the bat against England. England fought hard and Jacob Bethell played a brilliant inning of 105 runs in 48 balls, but India remained composed.

At the end of the match, brilliant efforts from Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah and remarkable fielding efforts left England seven runs short of the target.

“It’s an incredible feeling. Obviously, playing in India, leading such a great team and with the World Cup happening here, going to Ahmedabad to play the final. I think it’s a special feeling for all the boys,” captain Suryakumar Yadav said after the win at the Wankhede Stadium.
