Civil unrest in Belfast has thrown the upcoming India vs Ireland T20I series into doubt. On Sunday, amid BCCI’s announcement of the squad for the ODIs against England during the United Kingdom tour, Cricbuzz shared an update on India’s T20I against Ireland.

According to the post, the bilateral series will take place as per schedule amid tension in Belfast. Cricket Ireland also gave information about its stance before the series. The Cricket Board has informed that the series will go on as per the original schedule, as they have reviewed the current situation.

Cricket Ireland has given assurance regarding the series against India

“Following a comprehensive review of the current security environment in Belfast, Cricket Ireland can confirm that the Ireland v India T20 International at Stormont on 26 and 28 June will go ahead as planned,” the cricket board wrote on its official website on 18 June.

Cricket Ireland assures safety for all involved in the series

The latest situation in Belfast is threatening the organization of the cricket match. Cricket Ireland further mentioned that they are closely monitoring the situation with all parties involved in the India vs Ireland series, as the safety of every cricketer, staff and every other individual is the primary priority for the board. The board has assured that due to the current situation there will be no problem in the matches.

The official statement read: “The safety and well-being of everyone involved in the series is our top priority. We continue to work closely with the PSNI, venue management and security partners and are satisfied that the appropriate measures have been taken to ensure the safe and successful staging of both events.”

It added, “The current assessment suggests there is no specific threat to the matches, the participating teams, officials, spectators or the venue, and there are no plans for protests or demonstrations that will impact the match day.”

Ireland will host India for the first T20I at Stormont on June 26 and the second T20I on June 28.

Varun Chakravarthy is out of India vs Ireland series

For the T20I series against the Irish national cricket team, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the full squad led by Shreyas Iyer. On Sunday, BCCI informed that experienced spinner Varun Chakraborty will be out of the series due to a toe injury. According to the board, the spinner is in the final stages of rehabilitation at the Center of Excellence.
