India still top the ICC men’s ODI rankings despite losing their last series against New Zealand at home. This annual ranking covers performances between May 2025 and 2026.
India is one of the strongest ODI teams in the world, and under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, they maintained an unbeaten run in ICC tournaments such as the ICC World Cup 2023, when they won ten consecutive matches to reach the final before losing to world champions Australia.
However, in recent times, young player Shubman Gill has taken over the captaincy of the team. Since the Australia tour in 2025, India have lost both series under Gill’s captaincy, while their only win in recent times has come under KL Rahul.
India remains on top in ICC men’s ODI team rankings
India have retained their position at the top of the ICC men’s ODI team rankings after the latest update in the rankings. New Zealand are currently second on the points table, and the Men in Blue have a slim five-point lead over the Kiwis.
World champions Australia are third in the rankings with 109 points as all three of them miss the top three spots in the latest men’s ODI team rankings. Both these teams have defeated India in ODI bilateral matches during the last season. Meanwhile, Pakistan has slipped to fifth position.
