India Will face South Africa in the second match of the three-match ODI series. This article provides details about the playing 11 of India vs South Africa for the second match of the series.
India Playing XI vs South Africa – 2nd ODI, South Africa tour of India 2025:
Openers: Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal
India will be looking to repeat the same performance with the bat that they did in the first ODI against South Africa when both the teams face each other in the second match in Raipur.
The KL Rahul-led side showed their batting ability to the fullest by scoring a total of 349 runs on the board on a good batting wicket in Ranchi and are expected to do the same in the upcoming match.
The strong batting display that the Men in Blue put up in the last match was led by two of the team’s most experienced batsmen, former captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
While Rohi took full advantage of the life he got at the beginning of the innings by scoring a half-century after a slow start, Virat adopted aggressive options throughout the innings and scored 135 runs.
The team management is hopeful that if Rohit starts well in the second ODI, he will score well.
The only player among the top three about whom the team management will be a little worried will be Yashasvi Jaiswal, who will be looking to play a match-winning innings in the third match of his ODI career.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Washington Sundar, KL Rahul (captain/wicketkeeper), Ravindra Jadeja.
As far as India’s middle order is concerned, it seems to be heavily dependent on players like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, which suffered a slight decline with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Washington Sundar not being able to rotate the strike.
Although Ruturaj Gaikwad and Washington Sundar’s innings kept India from losing the match as the experienced duo of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja held the ship, both the batsmen will be under a bit of pressure in Raipur.
It is expected that the team will stick to the same batting order in the second ODI as well, in which Rahul will bat at number six and Ravindra Jadeja will come in at number seven.
In the second match also, the responsibility of scoring a large number of runs for the team will be on the top five batsmen.
Bowlers: Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna
As far as the bowling attack is concerned, it is expected to consist of the same guys that were there in the last game, with Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh taking the new ball.
Both had taken the new ball from both ends in the last match too and were lethal, especially Harshit Rana, who took two wickets in the first over of his spell.
Arshdeep and Harshit will be supported by Prasidh Krishna, who was also impressive in Ranchi with his hit-the-deck bowling and will be relied upon to do the same in Raipur.
India’s spin bowling department will be led by Kuldeep Yadav, who led the team to victory by taking four timely wickets in the first match, with Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar being the other two spinners.
