India Playing XI vs Australia – 3rd ODI, India tour of Australia 2025:

Openers: Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma

India will be backing themselves to put up a strong performance in the third match of the ongoing ODI series against Australia.

The Shubman Gill-led side will be happy with how the batting lineup responded after losing a few wickets early in their previous game, compared to their opening game performance, and will want the good work to continue.

Having said that, there are a few areas of concern for the Men in Blue as far as batting is concerned, and one of them is the contribution of the team’s middle order, which failed to convert the starts they got into a big score.

The former ODI World Cup winners will have to start from scratch in the next game and will hope that the opening pair of captain Shubman Gill and former skipper Rohit Sharma will do the job.

Apart from batting as a pair, both the batsmen will also look to score runs individually, which Rohit did courtesy of a crucial half-century in the last game.

Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Washington Sundar

If we talk about the performance of India’s middle order in the last match, it was a story of some good bowling from the opposition along with some unnecessary shot selection, which needs to be corrected.

The middle-order, which includes experienced batsmen like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Nitish Kumar Reddy, failed to take advantage of the good start India got thanks to half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer.

Kohli was out for zero for the second consecutive time in the series, while KL Rahul got a good ball from Adam Zampa. The pair would like to end the series by making important contributions with the bat.

Apart from Kohli and Rahul, the responsibility of giving a strong end to the innings will be on all-rounders Akshar Patel and Washington Sundar.

Bowlers: Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj

As far as bowling is concerned, for starters, they would like the batsmen to post a better score on the board so that they have something to bowl at.

If the batsmen can do their job to the best of their ability, the bowling attack is efficient enough to prevent the opposition from scoring freely.

However, simply putting runs on the board will not ensure an easy path towards victory. Players like Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj will have to take wickets in the first ten overs.

Spinners Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar will take matters into their own hands and keep the Australian batsmen in check in the middle phase of the innings.
