Ajit Agkar opens on a difficult decision to dismiss Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma achieved so much success as the captain of India that he could be placed in the ‘goat’ category. In the ODI multi-nation tournament, he captained India in 27 matches and won 24 of them. He took India to the final of ODI World Cup 2023 and won the Asia Cup 2018, Asia Cup 2023, and ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Talking about the decision to remove him from the leadership despite his immense success, Ajit Agarkar said it was a very difficult decision for him. He made it clear that to bypass Rohit, even though he had not won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, was difficult due to his contribution to the team over the years.

“Even if he did not win the Champions Trophy, it would have been a difficult decision of how good it has been for India. But you will sometimes have to see what is coming next,” talking to the media.

“You stand as a team and eventually see what is in the best interest of the team. Whether it’s now or perhaps after six months. The calls that I think you think is to make,” Agarkar said.
