Former Indian all-rounder Madan Lal directly said that Pakistan has taken a wrong step. Madan Lal said, Pakistan is actually inviting a lot of trouble by boycotting the T20 World Cup 2026 match against India.
The former Indian cricketer believes that the decision to boycott the India vs Pakistan match is the result of a poorly thought-out plan. He made some strong comments against Pakistan and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
high tide in front of pakistan
On Sunday, the Pakistan government informed that they have decided not to field against India for the T20 World Cup 2026 group stage match on February 15 in Colombo. This is an announcement from the Government of Pakistan. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to reconsider its stance. If they stand against high-octane matches then the council may take the matter seriously.
Madan Lal said that boycotting the India vs Pakistan match will not be a good thing for Pakistan. This decision can easily help them earn trouble. Other major cricket playing nations like England, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand will benefit in terms of crowds and sponsorships.
Madan Lal said that Pakistan will lag behind
Madan Lal said, “At the end of the day, Bangladesh is going to suffer, and Pakistan is going to suffer… The main thing is that New Zealand, England, South Africa and Australia are the biggest countries for cricket; they are going to get the crowds, and they are going to get all the sponsorship.”
The former cricketer advised Pakistan to think again. He suggested that Pakistan needs to think right to solve any problem. Otherwise, they may cause serious harm to themselves.
Madan Lal and ICC urge Pakistan to reconsider boycott
Madan Lal told ANI, “I think whether it is Pakistan government or PCB, they all are hurting their cricket. This is not going to solve their problems. Someone has to be there to think right. They are not thinking right at the moment. They want to support Bangladesh. You keep supporting Bangladesh. This is not our job.”
It was reported that ICC has urged Pakistan to reconsider its decision. Boycotting a particular match can impact not only the tournament but also the entire cricket community across the world.
“The ICC hopes the PCB will consider the significant and long-term implications for cricket in its own country, as it has the potential to impact the global cricket ecosystem, of which it is a member and beneficiary,” the apex cricket body said in a statement.
