India coach releases official Mohammed Siraj medical update, confirms debut for young spinners

There are less than a few days left for India’s only Test match against Afghanistan. Team India before the match Assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has provided some key updates on the probable playing XI.

India will host Afghanistan for a one-off Test at the Maharaja Singh PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh from June 6 to June 10. The Indian team management will have to choose the playing combination for the match.

Will Mohammad Siraj play against Afghanistan?

Ahead of the Test, there were some concerns over the availability of experienced seamer Mohammed Siraj as he had some shoulder issues. The assistant coach said that Siraj is fit and ready to play.

Ryan ten Doeschate also revealed that Manav Suthar and Harsh Dubey are expected to play alongside two experienced spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar.

“Mohammad Siraj is fit and good to play. As far as the two new spinners (Manav Suthar and Harsh Dubey) are concerned, there is very little chance that both of them will play. We have not decided who will play with Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar,” Ryan ten Doeschate told the media.

Team management will have to take some difficult decisions for this

This match is going to be important for the team, as it will be a part of the current World Test Championship cycle. Therefore, it will be necessary for the host team to win this match.

Team India’s batting side remains mostly untouched, but the selectors have made some major changes to the bowling unit. They will have to play without fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna are two experienced fast bowlers in the team. Gurnoor Brar
